| HYDROGEN PRODUCTION FROM METHANE AND BIO-FUELS |
HTC has developed three unique technologies to produce hydrogen. Listed below is a short description of each of these processes:
A. Production of Hydrogen via reforming of crude ethanol (click here for further details)
B. Production of Hydrogen via reforming of Glycerol (a by-product of Bio-Diesel Production (click here for further details)
C. Production of Hydrogen via reforming of Methane using the "Dry Reforming Process (click here for further details)
These new products have the following commercial benefits:
Improve the ethanol, bio-diesel and methane to hydrogen production business models through:
(a) Cost reduction: Capable of generating own energy supply
(b) Energy supply and price risk management -Avoid/reduce the amount of natural gas used in the produciton process.
(c) Additional revenue stream - Sell hydrogen as an industrial gas.
(d) Reduce Greenhouse gas emissions - Use Bio-energy supply vs. using carbon based fuels
The unique advantage, which differentiates HTC technologies from current hydrogen production technologies, are:
- Capability to utilize multiple energy feed stocks such as natural gas and bio-fuel feed stocks, as a result of HTC’s unique catalyst design capabilities.
- Energy and operational efficiency of the “Dry reformation” process due to:
(a) minimal water management issues,
(b) use of inexpensive non-noble active metals for catalysts,
(c) heat integration that makes separation process more energy efficient.
(d) reduced capex because ‘water gas shift’ reaction is only one stage process versus current two stage reaction (high temperature plus low temperature processes); therefore, one less reaction required.
- More efficient and cost effective method of separating and purifying hydrogen than current methods.
