HTC PURENERGY SIGNS AGREEMENT TO PARTICPATE IN THE EUROPEAN CO2 TEST CENTER (TCM) IN MONGSTAD, NORWAY

Regina, Saskatchewan - HTC Purenergy (TSXV:HTC) (“HTC”) has signed an agreement with the European CO2 Test Centre Mongstad partners to deliver a front end engineering and design (FEED) for the construction of a European CO2 Test Center (TCM) at Mongstad, Norway. HTC has been awarded this contract in conjunction with its consortium partner, Bechtel Overseas Corporation.

The TCM project is a joint collaboration between StatoilHydro, Shell, Vattenfall, Dong Energy , and Gassnova (Government of Norway) and is intended to demonstrate viable technology to be utilized in large-scale CO2 capture plants. The TCM project is scheduled to begin operations in 2010 and will position Norway as a global leader in environmental protection, including deploying solutions for post-combustion CO2 capture. The experience gained from this project is intended to be used to construct a large scale; 2 million tonnes per year CO2 capture facility at Mongstad.

“ Norway is demonstrating through meaningful projects such as the European CO2 Test Center that carbon capture and storage is an essential building block in mitigating the climate change effects of fossil fuel use,” said Lionel Kambeitz, Chief Executive Officer of HTC.

HTC is the Regina-based company that is commercializing the Purenergy CCS CO2 Capture System that was developed at the University of Regina’s International Test Centre for CO2 Capture ( ITC) and launched commercially in December, 2007. “The signing of this FEED agreement is further testament to the fact that the ITC is a world leader in CO2 capture and management technology,” said University of Regina president Jim Tomkins. “Climate change is an international challenge, and we are proud that Saskatchewan-made technology can contribute to what must be an international solution.”

The Purenergy CCS system, which incorporates more than 20 years of CO2 capture, testing and product development at the University, is a pre-engineered modular CO2 capture system that can be retrofitted to existing coal or natural gas fired power plants or incorporated into new plant construction. The Purenergy CCS system will form the basis of the FEED that HTC will be submitting for the European CO2 Test Center.

HTC is globally commercializing its Purenergy CCS CO2 Capture Systems through its head office and technical services centre in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada with commercial offices in Brisbane ( Australia), Beijing ( China), and Vermont (USA).
