Building Champions’ in Carbon Capture and Storage Reception
If you’ve been receiving our News Express, you may already know about the important milestones that HTC has announced over the past few weeks. On December 17th, 2009 HTC acquired a 90% interest in Carbon Capital Management, a Canadian carbon trading and offset firm, which is yet another step in the commercialization of the carbon industry. Within the next few days it was announced that HTC and Doosan Babcock Energy were chosen to undertake a major carbon capture project for US based utility, Basin Electric Power Cooperative.
We wanted to celebrate the right way by throwing a ‘Building Champions’ Reception held this past Monday in Regina. The theme of ‘Building Champions’ came about due in part to all the attention around the new and exciting green industry that is evolving within Saskatchewan, Canada and the world at large. Special guest speakers included Dr. David Gauthier, Vice President of Research at the University of Regina, Dave Rogers, President and CEO of newly acquired Carbon Capital Management and Lionel Kambeitz, Chairman and CEO of HTC Purenergy.
As we continue to offer solutions to address climate change and greenhouse gases, it is more important now than ever to start engaging people and industry with this subject. Something you may hear more about in the future, are the forums we are currently developing on the topic of Carbon Capture and Storage. The inaugural session was held last Monday in conjunction with the ‘Building Champions’ reception and it was such a success that additional sessions are in the planning stages.
The reception was a resounding success, with a very supportive and engaged turnout. See below for a few snapshots of the night…
