HTC Sponsors Jim Carter Lecture Series

HTC recently had the honour of hosting Dr. Jim Carter of the Alberta Carbon Capture and Storage Development Council to give a lecture in our first ever CCS Lecture Series, presented in collaboration with the Department of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Regina. Dr. Carter’s history and pedigree as the former CEO of Syncrude Canada Ltd., and now heading Alberta’s CCS initiatives, provided an experienced view as to the importance and challenges of CCS implementation. Dr. Carter spoke on the potential of CCS to substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the progress and challenges of implementation.

The Alberta Carbon Capture and Storage Development Council is a partnership between governments, industry and scientific researchers. Established by the Government of Alberta, the council will work towards the implementation of CCS to ensure that Alberta’s energy resources are developed in an environmentally sustainable way.
